Pat Rios
In becoming a painter – an artist, I wanted to tell my audience what moves me in every painting. I have found out that realism speaks to me in a special way; thus, I paint people, places and things in a way that they depict a real and, hopefully, compelling “moment in life.” I started late in life on this road to art but I have taken the time, nevertheless, to learn all that I can about painting. I have chosen realism as my vehicle to share with the public all that excites me. I have found that most people relate more to my realism than to my abstraction. I love abstract painting and understand its purposes; however, realism is my niche. I consider my audience part of my art. My viewers’ positive and emotional involvement in my art is what I seek.
Artist Biography – Patricia Rios, NMWS Award-winning artist, Patricia Rios, was born in Mexico. As a young child, Pat showed an affinity to drawing. With her Mexican heritage, Pat inherited a love of color and a sense of romanticism and drama which she injects into her work. She chooses subject matter for her work very carefully, selecting themes that appeal to her emotional and spiritual sensitivities. Pat has pursued her art education by completing four years of all available art classes, from beginning to advanced studio, at Mesa Community College in Arizona. Pat has also attended an extensive number of workshops with the finest artists at the premier Scottsdale Artists School in Arizona, as well as in Laguna Beach PAPA, New Mexico, California, Tuscany and Florida. For Pat Rios, her art education will never end.
