Please join us for the first EPAA General Meeting event of the year.  We are happy to bring to the El Paso community an art talk and demo by multidisciplinary artist Magda Thornton.

Magda will create a mini bust using paper clay.

Paper clay is a wonderful, versatile medium for all ages. This amazing product is ideal for creating sculptures, doll making, jewelry making and much more. No kiln needed!
Fun, easy to shape or mold, lightweight, air dry and durable, this clay can be painted after it’s dried.

(Not recommended for children under 3 years of age.)

Currently on view at the Crossland Gallery in the CON.FIGURE.ATION.10.2025 Exhibit, you will see “Ancestor” on display. This mini sculpture was created with paper clay and painted with metallic acrylics.

On view through Friday, February 28, 2025

Born in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, full-time graphic designer Magda Bowen/Thornton became interested in art at a very early age. As a child she would spend long hours drawing, lost in a world of her own. A self-taught painter, one of her most favorite themes is Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. Her vivid style of realism is seen in her loose, physical brushwork. Her bright bizarre colors and dramatic, fantastical images reflect an inspiration from native Mexican art.
