Ashton Kaleigh is an artist and art instructor originally from El Paso, Texas. Her artwork has shown nationally and she has works in private collections internationally. Ashton teaches public paint and sip classes around town and private art lessons online and in person. In 2023 she illustrated her first children's book, Carmelita, by Meagan O'Toole Pitts. Ashton is working on more books to come. Ashton has been painting for over nineteen years in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and digital. Her original paintings are vividly colored, surreal, and play with symbolism to comment on various aspects of the human condition and current societal issues. When she has time, Ashton also takes commissions for custom art such as portraits of people and pets, murals, poster/album art, illustrations, and other unique requests.

Visual art is like a dream made tangible, one that we can share with others. Art is therapy, a mirror into oneself. It is my belief that, as an artist, it is my duty to reflect what I see and what I wish to see on this planet by commenting on and questioning the self and society. My art is often very colorful, heavy with symbolism and deeper meaning which I hope will intrigue the viewer for years to come. Sometimes I like to refer to my work as technicolor dreamscapes or open ended questions in visual form. I also do works that focus on lighter subjects such as the beauty of Nature. I work primarily in paint of all types - acrylic, oil, gouache, watercolor, and digital. The biggest goal with art is to make a connection with others. While I create art to do just that on a mental and emotional level, I also spend a lot of time teaching others about art and art techniques. Visual art is an important part of our culture and it is a goal of mine to make it more accessible to as many people as I can.

Serena Ornelas

STUDIO #4

Serena Lizette Ornelas is a multi-disciplinary artist based in El Paso, Texas. Serena obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2023in painting at the University of Texas in El Paso. Serena’s work can be described as nostalgic, feminine, and has youthful qualities that lend well to the many mediums under her belt. Serena has more recently been interested in modified replications, and allegorical portraiture pertaining mostly to ephemeral memory and perspective of female identifying individuals. The means of this vary as she has been known to weave in and out of the 2d and 3d realms.

Serena has shown at multiple art galleries mostly in and around the West Texas Area. Serena has also notably shown and co-facilitated events at the palace of fine arts in San Francisco, California.  She is also more recently showing work in a virtual art space for Art Basel in Miami, Florida.

Serena Lizette Ornelas is primarily invested in the human condition. She looks at societal, environmental, and systemic complexities through the lens of a feminine and adolescent gaze. The human condition a hard pill to swallow she seeks not to undermine but to reduce these subjects into as simple terms as possible in a way a child might do naturally. Children have a less vested interest in greed, pride, and lust key differences in their adult counterparts. She seeks the wisdom of the youth an unbiased and untouched perspective. Serena believes the tarnish of earth will inevitably affect us all through our religion, sex, culture, and trauma. Her ultimate end goal in her work is to look at highly nuanced affairs with love, empathy and without personal bias.
