Stapher-Thomas explains where she gets her ideas for her imagery, “ I get inspiration from the natural environment of the Chihuahuan Desert. I love our Borderland culture. Sometimes I receive inspiration from great works of literature. In my creative process I always rely upon my imagination. My imagination takes over and takes me on a journey. I have an idea of where I want to go with an artwork when I am creating it, but I am usually very surprised where I end up.” Jeniffer explains her goals for her artworks. “My mission is simple. I strive to create pretty images that people of all ages and backgrounds can appreciate. I want for people to feel happy, calm and contented when they view my artwork.”

Artist Inspiration : The inspiration for this work has deep roots in the events of the last year, beginning with the Walmart Massacre of August 3, 2019. Then the COVID-19 Pandemic and the murder of George Floyd occurred. Through this woeful journey I turned to what I would want to say to my grandson and other young people. I developed this image as a celebration of our city and our people. I like to think of the hearts as angels busy at their work coming and going. Blessing El Paso and encouraging us to love our land, our city and each other. See her video on Youtube.
