Artist Inspiration : I’ve been struck by how nature perseveres and glows more brilliantly in contrast to the darkness of our world and politics. We’re fenced in, physically and metaphorically, and protesting to see the changes we want, mourning the lives lost in El Paso and around the world and watching nature from within our isolation. The painting is over a base of rice /handmade paper over cheesecloth which I chose to express the fabric of our lives shredding (including the raw rough edges).
