Artist Biography : Creating art has always been a part of me. I have been creating art since I was a child. It was and is a way for me to have voice and a way for me to relieve the chaos that is constantly going on in my head. I am content in life when I am working on my latest work which is often done using mixed media. My style is eclectic and a form of storytelling in whatever medium is best suited for what I am working on. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Studio Art Painting from The University of Texas at El Paso in 2011. I have worked on commissions for the last 18 years and counting. I am a proud Black and Hispanic woman which is often depicted in my work. I primarily but not exclusively promote the elevation of black women as it has always been a concern of mine based on my own experiences and others like me. I can only hope to continue to work on my craft until I can no longer hold up a paintbrush.
Artist Inspiration : Right now, the inspiration for my work is Black Lives in general. With all that is going on in our country I feel as if it is my duty to speak up on these matters. I cannot simply stay quiet so I am using my art as a tool. In my painting “Endless Worry” I am touching on the fear and the hurt we are feeling due to Covid-19, Police Brutality, the inhuman treatment of so many, and the collapsing of our society all while living during The Trump Era.
