Artists Inspiration : When painting this piece I wanted to capture a photo I’d seen of this gorgeous black woman. I wanted to show case her pride in her beautiful hair and the fierceness it takes to be a proud black woman. I made sure to include the steadiness in her eyes that showed her determination and focus on what she wants. strong in her belief and what she unapologetically stands for.

Artist Biography : Creating art has always been a part of me. I have been creating art since I was a child. It was and is a way for me to have voice and a way for me to relieve the chaos that is constantly going on in my head. I am content in life when I am working on my latest work which is often done using mixed media. My style is eclectic and a form of storytelling in whatever medium is best suited for what I am working on. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Studio Art Painting from The University of Texas at El Paso in 2011. I have worked on commissions for the last 18 years and counting. I am a proud Black and Hispanic woman which is often depicted in my work. I primarily but not exclusively promote the elevation of black women as it has always been a concern of mine based on my own experiences and others like me. I can only hope to continue to work on my craft until I can no longer hold up a paintbrush.

Artist Inspiration : Right now, the inspiration for my work is Black Lives in general. With all that is going on in our country I feel as if it is my duty to speak up on these matters. I cannot simply stay quiet so I am using my art as a tool.
